Austin Pop-Up Christmas Bar That Will Make You Feel Like A North Pole Visitor
Want to drink at a ski lodge surrounded by Christmas lights in the middle of Downtown Austin?
Go check out Miracle on 5th street, an installation brought to you by the owner of The Roosevelt Room, located in its event venue neighbor, The Eleanor.
I was leaving the Chisos Boot Launch Party at Parlor & Yard downtown (go check out their boots at HERE, they’re the most comfortable boots ever) and drove by one of our favorite bars, The Roosevelt Room, and noticed the beautiful, bright, Christmas covered Eleanor and made my fiancé stop and park the car so we could go inside. I found out that that night was their first night this year, which explains why it was a bit quiet there.
Walking inside you’re greeted by a life-size Santa Claus in front of a wall of Christmas lights and the sound of our favorite Christmas carols. Looking up, you’ll see a garland of beautifully wrapped presents above your head. No surface of this bar was missed, everything is decorated in some sort of Christmas garb.
There are two main rooms, the main bar and the ski lodge room, connected by a small hallway with a mistletoe hanging in the middle.
In the ski lodge room, there are fancy ‘picnic tables’ situated in front of a large graphic of a ski lift with snow matching the ambiance of the room. Across from the ski lift banner, there’s a stage with Santa’s throne surrounded by gifts. In this room, there’s another small bar where you can order drinks. The room is adorable and makes you feel like you’re grabbing a drink after carving the powder.
I ordered the Gingerbread Flip with George Dickel Rye Whiskey, Gingerbread Syrup, an entire Egg, Tiki Bitters with Gingersnap Cookie Crumbs. It took me straight to Christmas day, especially being surrounded by all of the lights and Christmas music.
