Local Businesses Supporting Texas Flood Relief Efforts

Carter Johnston for The New York Times

In the middle of the night on July 4 2025, catastrophic floodwaters came through several towns amongst Central Texas, some hit by 15 inches of rainwater. The Guadalupe River surged more than 22 feet in less than 4 hours, 20 of those feet happened in just ONE hour.

Hunt, Texas in Kerr County was hit the hardest, including an all-girl summer camp, Mystic Camp, where as of now (July 8th at 12pm), they’re grieving over 27 campers and counselors while ten campers and one counselor are still missing.

——

Closer to Austin, Leander and Georgetown were tragically impacted. One community in particular, Sandy Creek in northwestern Travis County, heavy rainfall brought a ton of debris, wiping away homes and vehicles. Seven people lost their lives due to the flash floods in Travis County and many have been misplaced.

More rain is on the way, so I always recommend having atxfloods.com saved on your phone to access while driving around flooded/high water crossings.

Uncertain Texas Flood of 2016

As someone whose family has been affected by catastrophic flooding, all of this hits home to me and I want to be able to help in any way. Since I cannot be there physically, I want to use my platform to spread the word.
— Bianca of ATX FYI

Were You Affected By The Floods?

County officials said victims affected by the floods who have immediate needs for shelter, clothing, food or water should call the Red Cross at 1-800-733-2767. Property damage can be reported to the Texas Department of Emergency Management.

They are deploying volunteer "ground pounders," swiftwater teams, boats, drone teams, K9s and whatever else requesting agencies need of them. The group is aiming to raise $100,000 to sustain its efforts. Donations can be made online for those who are not local.
