WRITING PORTFOLIO

BIANCA S.G. DELMAR

“Writing has been an escape from reality since I was old enough to jot down a story.”

Bianca grew up in a small town just outside of Orlando, Florida which oddly enough, encouraged her disdain for Disney and all their fantasticals. Her family eventually moved to the other Florida coast to a town outside of Tampa where she soon encountered her toughest battles.

Family-life was tough and as an only child, her cries for help fell onto deaf ears. Bianca didn’t experience all of those crucial years where a child’s imagination runs rampant and free without judgement. Instead, she was worrying about where her parents were late at night or having to pick them up off the floor in their drunken stupor to put into bed. This eventually turned into having to cover for them when employers or family called to check on them or even worse, having to say no to a drunken parent who just almost drove their truck into the lake and was asking for a rescue tow from their 20 year old daughter.

Life was hard. Bianca didn’t feel loved or appreciated, so she ran towards anyone who gave her that unconditionally (at least she thought). But, that still wasn’t enough to fix the pain she felt.

So, Bianca wrote while listening to music. Those were two pastimes that kept her happy, distracted, and moving forward (along with photography). She always kept a journal where she filled out every single day to keep track of her interesting life. Bianca also took every single writing or journalism class she could enroll in at school. This is where she started to learn about writing fiction and stretching that imagination she had such little experience with.

“you always write the best notes in my birthday cards.” - friends of bianca

Since after graduating grade school, it’s hard to find moments where you truly exercise your brain and sit down and write. That’s one of the reasons why Bianca wanted to start this blog. She would be able to write what’s going on in her favorite city and share the photos she personally took!

During this journey of ATX FYI, she was also diagnosed with ADHD, which thoroughly explains why she is such a proficient editor, spotting any errors quickly on a website, menu, or even in a published book.
